Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta is planning newMotoGP races in Asia and Brazil, while cutting back on events in the US and Spain.
In an interview with Reuters Ezpeleta revealed that the new Asian race (or races) could include Thailand - although “there are other projects in Asia also” - while an event in Brasilia, Brazil is likely by 2015.
The possibility of an Indian round will depend on the outcome of this year's inaugural WSBK event at the Buddh International Circuit.
The present calendar features 18 races and - with a return to Argentina already confirmed for 2014 - Ezpeleta stated that the new events are likely to replace, rather than supplement, the existing line-up.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, some of the numerous Spanish and US rounds are set to make way for any new arrivals.
"There is not a lot of possibility to continue with four races in Spain," said Ezpeleta, who added: "I don't think we will continue with three [races in America]."
Indianapolis is the likely US venue to be dropped, but no hint was given as to which of the Spanish rounds - Jerez, Catalunya, Aragon and Valencia - could face the axe.
There are currently no MotoGP rounds in South America, with Malaysia the lone event in the booming South East Asian region.
The most recent Brazilian round was held in Rio, in 2004
